Microtome Tanner TN8000Microtome is used for cutting paraffin blocks to produce tissue sections for staining and microscopy. The microtome is a precision instrument that poses a significant risk of injury, including severe cuts. Users must complete proper training before operating the device. Use of the microtome is governed by UCSD and SCRM safety policies, and users are required to follow these protocols at all times. This equipment is provided by the Genomics Core for unassisted use only by trained personnel. In the event of an injury, immediately stop work and apply first aid to control bleeding. Seek medical attention if necessary, and report the incident to your supervisor. Notify the UCSD Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) office promptly, and ensure the injury is documented as per UCSD and SCRM safety protocols. Emergency contact information and first aid kits are available in the lab. Tanner TN8000 microtome |
